Your VO2max estimated by Bogeton
Bogeton works out your VO2max from your cardio sessions of the last 60 days, then compares it with people your age to give your cardio age.
VO2max measures the oxygen your body can use during effort: one of the best indicators of your fitness. Bogeton estimates it itself, from your sessions.
Where the number comes from
Bogeton looks at your cardio sessions of the last 60 days: running, walking, treadmill, cycling with a power meter. For each minute of steady effort, it compares the oxygen your speed, slope or power demands with the share of your heart it takes. The faster you go with a calm heart, the higher your VO2max.
To find your true max heart rate, rowing, HIIT and strength training help too: a hard session shows how high your heart climbs. Your resting heart rate over the previous 30 days completes the calculation.
When it appears
- After 3 cardio sessions. Until then you see Being collected and the number of sessions already counted (for example “Being collected · 2 of 3 cardio workouts”).
- It stays on screen while your latest value is less than 60 days old. A few cardio sessions a month are enough to keep it up to date.
- Your date of birth must be filled in (Account › Your profile) so you can be compared with your age.
Where to see it
- In Your body (Activity tab): VO2 max, with a word about your level.
- In Your body age, as the Cardio habit. See Your body age.
- On the Your heart page, with the detail of your calculation.
Your level and your cardio age
Your VO2max is compared with that of 7,783 healthy adults of the same age. The result reads as a word:
| Word | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Room to grow | Plenty of room to improve for your age. |
| A bit low for your age | Close to the average for your age. |
| Good for your age | Above the average. |
| Very good for your age | Better than 3 in 4 people your age. |
| Excellent for your age | Among the fittest 2% of your age. |
Your cardio age is the age of an average person with your VO2max: “Cardio of a 32-year-old” at 36 real years means 4 years younger than your age.
